Meridian International Center’s Fellowship program will expose rising students and professionals to public diplomacy, international relations, exchanges, cultural and corporate diplomacy, and Meridian’s other programs and work.
Meridian Fellows will develop pre-professional experience that will allow them to explore the field of diplomacy and international affairs by gaining an overview of the operations of a nonprofit public diplomacy center. In addition to having an opportunity to contribute to the work of Meridian, Fellows will take part in professional development activities, including mentorship, training and education sessions, lunches with senior leadership, and an opportunity to create a capstone project that can be used as part of a professional portfolio.
All Fellows will be paid the Washington, D.C. minimum wage (currently $15.20/hour). In addition, all Fellows working in-person will be eligible for a $75 per month Metro SmartBenefits contribution.

Meridian is currently recruiting Fellows for the following openings:
Meridian Center for Cultural Diplomacy - The Cultural Programs and Exhibitions Fellow will support MCCD in the day-to-day operations of the development of international exhibitions and the coordination of cultural exchange programs for the U.S. Department of State and foreign governments. The Fellow's main responsibilities will include designing exhibition and program materials for promotional purposes; assisting with cultural programs, receptions, and planning for future activities, in particular research for new exhibitions, cultural programs, and grant proposals; and contributing written content for Meridian’s blog and social media outreach. Students in a related field, such as art history, museum studies, arts management, public history, anthropology/cultural studies, or international studies, or who have the equivalent in experience, are preferred. Familiarity with archival research, exhibition development, Squarespace, and Canva is a plus.
Meridian Center for Diplomatic Engagement - The MCDE Fellow will gain experience in virtual programming and production, cross-cultural communication, and audience management. This role assists with the logistical and administrative tasks of virtual and in-person event coordination; including audience/attendee outreach and dissemination of communication; supports external stakeholder engagement and cultivation; supports data management and enrichment of Salesforce database; researches and develops interview questions for convenings; contributes written content for Meridian’s online presence; supports with other Meridian events as needed.
Corporate Relations - The FedEx Corporate Diplomacy Fellow will provide logistical support for Meridian Corporate Council events, and assemble materials for events, create briefing memos for upcoming donor meetings, support our team in prospecting potential donors, as well as support on drafting communications, newsletters, blogs, and other written tasks as needed by the team. The Fellow is an integral member of the team and is involved in all the projects of the Corporate Relations Team.
Meridian Center for Global Leadership
The Global Programs Fellow will provide necessary support to the Center for Global Leadership’s Foreign Press Center programs and journalism initiatives, the Pan Africa Youth Leadership Program, and embassy-funded programs. The Fellow will gain experience in virtual exchange programming and production, monitoring and evaluation, business development, data management, and possible in-person program design and implementation.
The International Visitors Leadership Program Fellow will provide logistical support to facilitate the program, create and assemble welcome materials, and work on a variety of long-term and independent projects. In addition to supporting the programmatic work of the IVLP team, the Fellow will also attend and assist in the implementation of program meetings allowing for the observation of exchange, engagement, and networking between international visitors and resources.
The Study of the U.S. Institute (SUSI) for Student Leaders Fellow will assist the SUSI teams with online winter programs and potential in-person summer programs. Fellows will help support synchronous and asynchronous online activities, program logistics for in-person cohorts, and communications with stakeholders including university partners and vendors. Other than public diplomacy program development and administration, the SUSI Fellow will also gain skills in monitoring and evaluation.
